Empathy in Marketing
The art of marketing is when you have empathy for the audience that you’re talking to. It’s part art, but I think it’s actually part science too. You have to create a bond, this moment, especially when you’re a presenter and you’re there and in person. It’s one of the few marketing mediums where you can make an actual human and face-to-face connection, but if you don’t spend a lot of time just fussing and thinking and spending time in the shoes of the people you’re talking to then you’re not going to come across as having a connection with them. It’s very important to think about what’s on their mind. Even though it’s your job to broadcast information, you need to spend a lot of time thinking about what’s on their mind, how they process information and what’s important to them, and making sure you connect deeply with that.
