Warmth Events Schedule
Join Project
Warmth "in Concert" to Beat the Cold This Winter!
All shows (unless otherwise indicated) will be open to the general public. Please
come
out and support great local music as well as helping the homeless by bringing
a coat,
blanket, or other article of warm clothing to the show. Donated items should
be clean and in good condition.
Events are currently
being scheduled to benefit the Project Warmth program. If you are interested
in performing at an event, hosting an event, or receiving
more information about Project Warmth, email
us.
Upcoming
2008 Project Warmth Events:
Several
events are in the planning stages, and will be announced soon!
In July, Allison Crowe played two benefit shows for the EDAF in Massachusetts and New York.
In January, members of Delta Airlines Community Partners office in Cincinnati held a Project Warmth collection. Exceeding all expectations, project coordinator Gina Brumley reported that they ended up with over 75 bags of warm clothing! The clothing was then distributed to the homeless by The Drop Inn Center, a shelter that works to provide essential services to people experiencing homelessness in Cincinnati, and to empower them to move from homelessness to housing.
The
following events were held in 2007:
The fourth annual Make a Difference Day Show at the Seaside Center in Encinitas, CA on October 20th featured Peggy Lebo and Friends.
The
following events were held in 2006:

Third annual Encinitas
Make a Difference Day Show
Saturday,
October 21, 2006 in Encinitas, CA: 3rd
Annual "Eve
Selis and Friends Make A Difference"
Benefiting the Everyday Angels Foundation's Project Warmth with Randi Driscoll
and Sue Palmer at Seaside Church Auditorium.
Admission: $5
plus blanket, warm clothing, canned pet food or towel donation, $10 without
donation
Donations from this show were given to the Interfaith Shelter Network, an
organization that finds shelter for the homeless during the winter months,
as well as to The Storefront - the only emergency homeless shelter in San
Diego for youth ages 12-17.
Donations also
benefited Rachel’s Women’s
Center which provides a continuum-of-care for homeless and very-low income
women. Operating since 1980,
Rachel's Programs have provided services and support for thousands of women.
The programs include day and night shelter, transitional housing, low-income
apartments, job readiness training and apprenticeships.
Another beneficiary
was the Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. Since 1961, Rancho
Coastal Humane Society has been dedicated to placing unwanted
animals
in loving, permanent homes. Last year alone, RCHS was able to give nearly
1,500 animals a second chance at life. Since 1997, RCHS has provided temporary
shelter
and care for the pets of victims of domestic violence. Because of this valuable
resource, women and their children are able to seek the help they need, knowing
their pets are safe.

Two
Project Warmth shows held in Virginia
Since 1991, Falling
Mountain Music has given a voice to music that has become increasingly marginalized
by today's
commercial forces. They have been empowering
an ever-growing wealth of consumers to seek a wide array of musical choices
unimpaired by commercial considerations – via the internet, and through
their one-to-one contact with fans. They enthusiastically support and service
independent
and public radio stations that share their commitment to provide a more
diverse and meaningful spectrum of music to their listeners.
To celebrate Falling
Mountain's 15th anniversary and to commemorate the release of the Making
Music Matter CD, they have joined forces with
The EveryDay
Angels Foundation's Project Warmth for two special concerts
to help their less fortunate neighbors stay warm and fed through the winter.
In addition, the EDAF will be the recipient for the Making Music Matter
program
for the last part of the year, so CD purchases at Falling Mountain's website
will help this wonderful cause even if you live far from the Virginia concerts.
What fun the shows
were – it
is rare when two or three of Falling Mountain's artists are in the same place
at
the same
time, so
a gathering
of
seven different label acts for a concert is perhaps a once in a decade
event. The collaborations of voices and instruments both planned and
spontaneous can be guaranteed to cover a wide range of musical styles and stories.
We
hope
that you will plan to make the journey with us for at least one of these
concerts.
At both concerts
we collected non-perishable food items to help stock the local
food banks heading into the holiday season. The shows were held:
Saturday, October
21, 2006: Shenandoah Valley Concert
Court Square Theater, Harrisonburg VA
Sunday,
October 22, 2006: Northern Virginia Concert
Arcola United Methodist Church, Ashburn VA
Falling Mountain
artists performing at the shows included Randy Barrett, Debra Cowan,
Michael DeLalla, Madeline MacNeil,
Andrew McKnight and wild carrot. Please visit www.fallingmountain.com for
more info on these artists.

New
England Blues Festival
Sunday, September
24, 2006: The New England Blues Festival
Middleboro, MA – The EDAF partnered with a new event to promote Project
Warmth! This new festival, held to promote blues music in southern New England,
also benefited several local charities, including a family shelter. As usual,
audience donations of blankets, coats and sweaters through the EDAF were distributed
to the local community.
