Protecting and Repairing Our Environment

There are many opinions on the health of our big, blue planet, but no one can argue the fact that our health and well being as a species is intricately connected to the health and well being of our environment. The days of naively thinking we can just move to another planet when we use this one up are over. While there are many approaches on how to implement environmental policies, we all know we must do something.

Since 1998, the Foundation has participated several times in the annual fall international waterways cleanup day sponsored by The Center For Marine Conservation. The EDAF also adopted a New Jersey waterfront beach in South Amboy for several years where they spent two days per year clearing new debris and cataloging their findings for coastal study programs. On September 16, 2000, the mayor of South Amboy recognized the continuing efforts of the Foundation volunteers by proclaiming that day "EveryDay Angels Foundation Day." Cleanups have also been held in Newport Beach, CA, several Cape Cod locations and other beaches in New Jersey. While most events involve bagging litter and recording the results for research, one outing involved planting dune grass as a natural shoreline erosion deterrent.
